Won the Grand Prix (Japan Patent Attorneys Association President’s Award) at the 3rd Intellectual Property Utilization Business Plan Contest hosted by the Japan Patent Attorneys Association.

The business plan titled “Digital Transformation of Various Solutions through Innovative ‘Chemical Fingerprint Information’ Acquisition and Anomaly Diagnosis using Machine Learning – 1-Minute, 1-Drop Evaluation with High-Sensitivity Diamond Sensors” received the award.

We are pleased to announce that our business plan, titled “Digital Transformation of Various Solutions through Innovative ‘Chemical Fingerprint Information’ Acquisition and Anomaly Diagnosis using Machine Learning – 1-Minute, 1-Drop Evaluation with High-Sensitivity Diamond Sensors,” has won the Grand Prix (Japan Patent Attorneys Association President’s Award) at the 3rd Intellectual Property Utilization Business Plan Contest, organized by the Japan Patent Attorneys Association.

ExtenD, a startup spun off from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), has developed a system that rapidly and easily acquires “chemical fingerprint information” from various solutions using its unique AI sommelier technology, which employs ultra-high-sensitivity diamond electrodes for electrochemical measurements. By analyzing spectral signals from food, beverages, alcoholic drinks, pharmaceuticals, and bodily fluids (blood, sweat, urine), and utilizing ExtenD’s proprietary feature extraction technology (patent pending), the system visualizes subtle component differences in solutions. This technology is applied in areas such as anomaly diagnosis, digital transformation, quality control, taste evaluation, and condition prediction.

This award recognizes and honors innovative business plans that utilize intellectual property. We are grateful that ExtenD’s plan was highly evaluated among numerous submissions. We will continue to focus on expanding our capabilities and improving our services.
