Unprecedented Response for First Exhibition! Liquid AI Sommelier® Gains High Attention from the Food Industry at FOOMA JAPAN 2026
ExtenD Co., Ltd. exhibited for the first time in the Startup Zone at FOOMA JAPAN 2026, one of the world’s largest comprehensive food manufacturing exhibitions, held at Tokyo Big Sight from June 2 to 5, 2026. We presented our proprietary liquid analysis platform, “Liquid AI Sommelier®.”
This was our first participation in an exhibition for the food industry. We were pleased to welcome a number of visitors that significantly exceeded our expectations. The response confirmed a strong interest in the digitalization and quantification of quality evaluation within the food and beverage industry.
Our booth welcomed professionals from a wide range of sectors, including food and beverage manufacturers, alcoholic beverage producers, seasoning manufacturers, raw material suppliers, and research institutions. We received many inquiries regarding the following:
- Objective quantification of taste and quality
- Support for sensory evaluation by skilled experts
- Advancement of quality control at production sites
- Improvement of research and development efficiency
- Solutions for technical knowledge transfer and labor shortages

Liquid AI Sommelier® is a next-generation liquid evaluation platform developed by ExtenD Co., Ltd., a startup originating from AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology).
The platform quantifies liquid characteristics with only “one minute and one drop.” By visualizing quality evaluations that previously relied on human senses, it attracted significant attention from many attendees.
During the exhibition, we also held numerous discussions regarding joint research, verification testing, and sample evaluation. These interactions reaffirmed the market potential and social demand for Liquid AI Sommelier® in the food and beverage sectors.
We will reflect the valuable feedback and requests received during this exhibition in our future development. We are committed to accelerating technological advancement and social implementation to contribute to enhanced quality control, research and development, and technical knowledge transfer in the food, beverage, and other various industries.
